Wine Vineyard Visit : Villa Maria Estate Auckland (New Zealand)

-

This vineyard is only about a 10 minutes drive away from the Auckland airport. I was pretty peckish after the long 9 hour flight. So I decided to stop over there for a quick lunch, comprising of soup/bread and a glass of Gewürztraminer white wine which really smelled and tasted like cool climate lychees. Based on my experience visiting the various vineyards, this was a relatively small estate tucked neatly within an industrial area! The main vineyard building was quite modern in architecture and had a nice designed cellar door and restaurant. The view outside the restaurant was very scenic, with a pond in the foreground and the vineyards in the background. When I was there for a Monday afternoon 2 other tables were also filled.
A very enjoyable lunch!
